Newbie with rough recordings willing to learn tips to windowsurfing

Post by Auditory »

Hey all,

I've been looking for a website like this for a while, I'm so happy to have finally found it!!!

My neighbour 2 doors down - now moved - used to leave the window open and I could hear her and the impacts on her ass when I went for a smoke on the balcony. She was hot. But I hated it, it tripped me out. Then I recorded it on my phone and that made me less screwed up by it. One day I was walking back home past a couple that live above a hairdressers, and heard great sounds through their open bathroom window. I recorded it, just for a minute or less, played it back when I got home, and I was hooked.

I go out walking quite a lot when I'm drunk. Which I also am quite a lot! It's a cold place, in a cold season, but some people open their windows even now, and I live in a fairly concentrated residential area in a city centre with windows above the street. I have a few short, rough, crappy (but still great) recordings from open windows. No equipment other than a phone voice recorder and a few beers.

I'd like to learn as many tips as possible from people with more experience. How to keep discreet while walking, spy-guru-like lessons from experience/rules of thumb to find good prospects in residential areas (e.g. 'Look for clown shoes on doorsteps, they always have fun) and basically what successful techniques are. I hear of some leaving microphones/recorders, I don't really know anything about how to do that, and would be interested at least to learn.

Just one thing: I try to obey the law as much as possible - no entering actual residences. Though if someone knows how to 'hack' telex speakers from the outdoor panel, that would be amazing wouldn't it?

Thanks so much for this site, it's a dream, Im happy, and will be actively posting recordings in the future.

I think you're in the right place! There are lots of experienced folks on this board.

If you're outside my advice is simple: Wear dark clothing, have ear buds in, and don't be too drunk.

Thanks Termoil123! This place is terrific :-)
I suppose it is important to at least be able to tell where the line is if one is drinking.

I do it for three reasons - 1. Because if I'm not drinking, I'm probably not going out at night 2. I can feel more ok with walking around residential areas supposedly disorientated, where I at least have an excuse to vary my walking pace and go down the same street twice 3. A main reason: taxi drivers, truck drivers, unexpected people stress me out, and after beer, not as much.

Ok, four: I'm a pisshead XD

Thanks for the advice! If you see this, then could you tell me how to make earbuds work while listening? Thanks again. :-)
