So frustrated right now, living in an apartment with 2 20 somethings right next to me, in the past whenever they went at it there was some good listening as due to the layout of this complex my master bedroom is right next to theirs seperated only by a wall

The sad thing is that living directly below them is a really nice older lady who is in her late 60's, but she has told them that sound carries in this place and that she can hear them, so now they rarely even give any signs of having a good time at all.

If one is really quiet, and happens to be laying in bed when they start up, you might be lucky to hear a few bed creaks and (maybe) a gasp or moan from her but it is like they are fucking with their parents in the next room or something, the old lady downstairs has totally ruined this place.

Good thing is that the place directly below me is up for rent and I saw a younger couple 20 somethings again looking at it today, their bedroom is directly below mine (if they take the place) so maybe I can get some good listening/recording opportunities.

Just wanted to vent on how god damned frustrating a nosy neighbor can be, wish me luck that things get better please.

Thomas if there were I definitely would have done so and gladly shared, but my methods are very limited, to be precise I only have a cell phone to work with and while one can hear things with the naked ear a cheap ass wal mart straight talk phone is not very good at audio captures.

I did try once but got absolutely nothing.

God, I HATE complaining neighbors. She wants perfect quiet, she should buy a house. I have 20-somethings under me and they are just too damned shy and considerate, so haven''t been able to get anything.

LOL Thomas - I would recommend if you want to hear thesoundguy's neighbors in particular, you become his patron and send him some good recording equipment - otherwise beggars can't be choosers. I would, but there seem to be enough active contributors here already.

Here's what I WILL back financially - I still want to come up with a student chapter where we recruit/attract dorm-imprisoned members - give them free access to archives and send them a free USB mic and some double faced tape as a sort of scholarship... I can't even imagine the lovely noises from college dorms over the school year especially as most have 1st/2nd year students since 3rd year and older tend to start finding off campus apartments..

This is a first I heard from you. I always say it, students are the best! But not here :p

This being said, I recently discovered that there are certain multi-family housing units which are made up of at least a 90% student population because they are close to college campuses. Perhaps someone might consider moving into one :p

I bet the walls aren't that think either. Beware though, you will lose sleep because of student noise!

FWIW from my college days your best bet is to be on the same floor in rooms that share a wall. Next best bet is them over you. Them under you is borderline useless. IMHO anyway. Back when I was in college I got the best caps from friends crashing on the couch. I had a shared wall for a while and loved that, and I had a girl over me for a while and that was OK. I had a really hot girl under me for a while but all the noise on their floor carries over so you never get to hear without stereos or tv's etc etc.

Right on, Gekko. Most girls (and some guys) really flip out, squeal and get vocal when they're starting out. That would make for the "ultimate" capture.

Brilliant idea. My college dorm was a non-stop fuckfest. Some of the girls were pretty great looking, too.
