hello everyone, just an introduction and a bit of history

Post by polwad1 »

I'm from the Uk, male, i'm 26, and i've been a sexsound lover for about 4 years now. i remember the first time i heard anything, was in the Burners hotel, on oxford street in london (anyone know it?) the walls were very thin, and i first of all thought someone was walking about outside, but then i heard a scream. i continued listening, and heard the couple, who were either above or on the side of my room, come to a loud screaming orgasm, and since then i've been hooked. one of the best places i found to listen in to people, was when i was on holiday in jamaica. the hotel was couples only, and that was a practical guarentee that every room in the hotel at some point would yeild some results. i was on my honeymoon at the time (i might have made a good recording myself  ) but i still found time to listen in on some other couples (including an american couple who the guy was trying to make his girl deep throat him, and you could hear her choking)

anyway, if anyone wants to make friends, or fancies a chat, let me know, and perhaps someone could answer this question. what is the best thing to buy (available in the UK) to hear through the walls of a hotel? this is where i do most of my listening, but i'm still using ape-tools (glass against a wall) technology is my friend of course, so if anyone could recommend anything that would make hearing through a wall easier (not all walls are as thin as the burners) then i'd appreciate it.

ayup lad, good to have some UK company, so welcome aboard!

Listening through walls yields my favourite uploads here usually, but unfortunately its the trickiest stuff to record well. There are others on the site who know more about hardware than me, but from my understanding it's pricey and quite hit or miss. I think it's safe to say that the skill is going to be finding the right place to record from rather than owning the expensive gear. Always remember that your ears are a pretty damn good set of microphones, so chances are with a decent recorder even if it's not specialised for a through-wall-job, if you can hear it, you can probably record it. Also worth remembering that doors are usually the weak point because there's usually air passing under them, and where air goes soundwaves will surely follow. Can be true of windows too, specially if they're cheap ones.

Anyway, aside from all that rambling, I'd recommend you pick yourself up an mp3 player with a record function, nothing fancy to keep the price and size down, and keep it with you everywhere you go. I had good results from an iRiver t30, and others on the forum speak highly of the creative Zen Nano. Both players encode realtime well, have decent inbuilt mics, good battery life, and are easily replaced should you ever get your player pinched if you leave it outside a hotel room door or something.

On a separate topic, recordings of UK lasses are shockingly rare on this site, and it's something I'd love to see change. I do my bit for the cause where I can, but having another UK uploader here would be awesome because my catches are few and far between these days.

Hope that helps... lookin forward to hearing your work

you're right, perhaps my phone's sound recorder function would work (nokia n95). it's quite advanced so i'll have to try it. it's a case of probably knowing which hotels have the best recording ability. the trouble for me is i have to keep it under wraps, because 9 times out of 10, when i'm in the hotel room, i'm with my wife, who knows nothing of this, so if i showed up with a microphone boom and a tape deck she'd probably have some questions!! lol!

thanks for the welcome!

The record function on the N95 won't serve you well on this one I'm afraid man. Thats partly because it's recording sound taken from the phones mic, which is cheap and shitty because it only needs to transmit audio that's at phoneline frequencies usually. The other problem is that Nokia encode their files at truely horrible bitrates in AMR format, which if you're not up on all the audio compression stuff basically squeezes all but the loudest coursest part of the sound out and would leave you with nothing in most cases if it was the room next door.

The difference between your phone and an mp3 player that has a decent realtime encoder will amaze you if you put them side by side. It's still not as good as having a full rig there no doubt, but you could probably pull it off without the wife getting suspicious just as easily as the N95, and with a bit of post production in some cases you'll have material to upload. If you ever catch anything whether it's with the phone or another device and you need help pulling the best out of it, just give us a shout, there's plenty of folks around who'll help out.

Cheers, may santa bring you a recording gadget and many hotel visits LOL

recording with out looking like you are recording

Pol,

welcome aboard -- I've purchased a few microphones that were inside a pen casing. It just looks like a pen sitting on top of the shelf or sticking out of the side pocket of my travel bag.

the MP3 players are very good options -- I've always used the inexpensive digital voice recorders.

If you're in the hotel but have the option of stepping out for a run on the treadmill of the exercise room, etc.. recording at the bottom of the hotel room door is a decent option. Depends on the hallway traffic of course ;-)

I'm new here but love to listen when staying in hotels. I use a mobile phone on the floor by the door recording the sounds coming from the room opposite. Its surprising what sounds get under the door!
