Staying in SoCal tonight on points. Major luxury chain. Not too aggressive tonight as highly suspect hall cameras are embedded in some of the alarm sensors and verified on Google this is now available, so beware of the innocent looking white plastic cones that you think are only photo-voltaic smoke sensors! That and place is sophisticated and they have some visible security. Also, there is an obnoxiously loud ice maker that can be heard even though it's on the other side of the building!

So was going to give up and just relax tonight when 3AM a giggly noisy couple went into a room about 3 doors down. Both mid-late '20s; guy is tall, light black skin. Girl average height - dark blond - tan - California Girl all the way!

So planted a corridor mic that caught the whole thing; I was there for the finish and she sounded nice. Not a screamer - definitely a lighthearted lovemaking session.

At the last heard the elevator so went back to my room. Sure enough; security. Let him pass. Nothing detected so think it was just routine. Still, retrieved the corridor mic and staying in for the rest. I think you will enjoy - made my whole stay worth it!

I think I've seen those plastic covers before that kinda looks like something for wifi inside a building hopefully I'm correct because I know some smaller hotels has a plastic cover on the ceiling in some hallways and at first when you approach it it looks nothing like a security system would look like but now that you mention the sensors now you gotta be more careful especially when it comes to Security in places like Marriott or Hilton hotels

What raised my suspicion was the lack of any other security cameras, all they had were the alarm sensors - in the elevator lobby and each end of the corridor where you'd normally see cameras, then a number of them along the walls.

I'm sure not all of them had cameras but still didn't want to risk walking over the entire hotel. Was happy to walk away with one decent catch.

Won't return though. Aside from the main issue the ice maker noise is just too damn invasive..

I think you did well being weary of the smoke detectors. There are FAQ's on how to spot cameras in things, mostly shining light on them and carefully looking for any glare, but, that is mostly for people in their rooms where the camera would be a violation of their privacy. It would be hard for a hotel operator to get too bent on people looking for cameras in their own rooms. Looking for cameras in the smoke detectors in the hallways on the other hand, that would rouse some suspicion.
