Work Christmas Party

Hi everyone,

More from my backlog of recordings from the past 3-4 years. Thanks for the feedback so far, it is encouraging to know people are enjoying the recordings as much as I enjoyed capturing them!

This recording is from a work Christmas party (remember them?!). My employer at the time had taken over a small chain hotel about an hour north of London. It was far enough away that most people figured it was more cost-effective and convenient just to get a room at the venue and make a night of it.

My gf had her Christmas party the same night so I was at this solo and also had booked a room. The party was fun but I was careful to see which couples were leaving when, and if they were heading for a taxi or to a room. This couple were the youngest there at 20 and 19. He was 6’, short brown hair, in good shape and a handsome face that clearly did not require shaving. She was tiny! Just over 5’, brunette, pretty with glasses and a nose stud. I didn’t speak to them (and didn’t know him at work), but from watching I got the impression this was one of their first nights as an official couple.

As they were my prime candidates, as soon as they started making moves to leave I positioned myself to do the same. I actually ended up walking ahead of them down the long corridor to the wing of rooms they were in. As long as their room wasn’t right at the end I would be ok. Sure enough, their room was about halfway down the corridor and they didn’t care about me ahead of them. After a few minutes I wandered back and stood outside with my phone. No cameras and phone signal was terrible, so I just sat down in the corridor and would have pretended to be on the phone to my gf if anyone came by. Thankfully they didn’t...

Anyway, it was very exciting that everything fell into place as I had hoped when they announced the party! The cheap hotel meant the sounds were clear in the corridor. It also meant a very squeaky bed!

Yes that bed was awful. Sounds like they did what I would have done? Get on the floor with the duvet and pillows. Lovely pounding sounds after that?! Sweet recording
